The Waikato proudly boasts a world-class cycling facility, which is home to New Zealand’s high performance cycling talent and the National Cycling Centre of Excellence. Located in Cambridge, this facility is centered around a purpose built 250m wooden cycling velodrome and includes world-class training and competition facilities for road, MTB and BMX, alongside accessible community facilities. CKL was subcontracted to conduct the precision set out of all elements of the build, including the precise positioning of the bolt pads securing the roof support towers, and the positioning of the concrete track support formworks. Accuracy was critical as the velodrome track was constructed overseas and “clipped together” on site. There was zero tolerance for error. CKL also provided planning and surveying services relating to the granting of, and compliance with, Resource Consent. This included easement surveys for both access and sewage disposal, ensuring the Avantidrome sat within its own certificate of title.
