You will be providing technical input to projects during resource consent, through concept design to detailed design. You will be involved with procurement, contract administration, and construction monitoring including client and contractor interaction.

It’s a given you have a tertiary engineering qualification, Civil 3D/12D experience, and either have, or are wanting to work towards CPEng registration.

IT Systems Administrator

AUCKLAND

CKL is a progressive medium-sized multi-disciplinary consultancy offering planning, surveying, engineering, environmental and transport services from four offices in the North Island.

The primary purpose of the IT Systems Administrator is to undertake the operation, repair, maintenance and upgrades of CKL IT and related technology, in tandem with providing best in class tier 1 and 2 IT support to the Auckland office. The key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Providing internal IT support to the CKL business (primarily Auckland and other offices/locations as required)
  • Providing technical knowledge and skills to aid with the day-to-day operational requirements of the department
  • Maintaining high standards of excellent, ethics and values
  • Providing an excellent level of customer service to CKL’s employees and IT users


  • Key Responsibilities

    • Provide a high standard of technical support services and advice in a timely manner
    • Undertake the repair, maintenance, and upgrading of all CKL technology (including but not limited to IT infrastructure, telephone systems, and surveying equipment)
    • Actively look for and recommend technological opportunities to improve business efficiencies.
    • Contribute to, support, and in some cases lead IT projects
    • Ensure minimum disruption (caused by technological faults or scheduled repairs) with downtime to be less than 5%
    • Provide training and advice to staff in the use of relevant IT systems and technology
    • Prioritise and organize workloads in conjunction with other IT staff / support so that any systems issues are addressed proactively, and in a timely and satisfactory manner
    • Create and regularly maintain accurate records of IT and technological assets, staff information, software licenses, supplier/maintenance contacts etc, and update as required
    • Ensure ongoing implementation and review of business systems and processes, to continually improve the overall efficiency and productivity of CKL
    • Ensure CKL Quality Control (ISO 9001) practices and processes are adhered to as outlined in the company’s QA Manual and adhere to other non-formal quality assurance processes, such as use of relevant forms, daily submission of timesheets, and regular reference to and maintenance of the CKL workflow/database system
    • Be an active participant and contributor to CKL’s health and safety programme, ensuring all processes, practices and systems are adhered to as outlined in the company’s Health and Safety Manual
    • Assist CKL’s Quality Assurance Manager to ensure compliance with the firm’s ISO 9001 QA plan
    • Comply with all CKL and OSH protocols including Health and Safety policies
    • Be innovative in reviewing processes and procedures with a view to saving time, money, and improving quality
    • Be a positive, contributing, willing and adaptable member of the team at all times
    • Report Monthly on key metrics and critical numbers (see measures)
    • Other tasks as required by the IT Manager and/or Directors from time to time


    • Skills, Experience and Knowledge
      • Competent administrator of on premises systems; Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, and Windows Client Operating Systems
      • Competent administrator of Microsoft cloud systems; Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365 systems incl. Email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Stream
      • Good understanding of cloud and virtualisation technologies (in particular Microsoft Azure)
      • 3-5 years’ experience in an IT Systems/Administrator role or similar
      • Experience with troubleshooting and computer hardware and software
      • Ability to develop systems and procedures to support the business and operational IT processes
      • Knowledge of project management techniques and experience of being involved in IT Projects
      • Familiar with the deployment and configuration of Landonline (Citrix client), 12d, Autocad Civil3D, Quickmap and other surveying, land development and engineering software
      • Some experience of network infrastructure including, VLANS, Managed Switching, WAN Routing, Wifi Deployment, VPN’s
      • Experience with IP Telephony systems administration and maintenance
      • Familiar with Agile, devOps, and human-centred design principles and frameworks
      • Holds a current NZ Drivers Licence


      • Qualifications
        • IT related degree, diploma or similar qualification / relevant experience
        • Industry and IT professional accreditations (e.g. Microsoft certifications)
