This high profile development comprises some 23,000sqm office space spread over 5 buildings and an associated 350 space car park.

Hamilton’s CBD is rapidly changing to become a vibrant and diverse place to work, shop and live. CKL has been proud to work with a team of local developers, architects and consultants to bring Union Square to fruition; a Foster Group development that is revitalising the southern CBD and attracting more employees to this area. There are a total of six buildings on the corner of Anglesea St and Hood St that create this world-class commerce environment.

CKL was responsible for the delivery of Resource Management Planning, specialised surveying, and project management to gain council approvals for titling the respective units for ownership purposes. Also included was the delivery of an Integrated Transportation Assessment considering the effects of a major commercial development in the heart of the Hamilton CBD and to ensure multi-modal access to the site.

Several aspects of the underlying ownership titles presented unusual challenges for both the legal and surveying components. In addition, the staged nature of the development meant that prior to construction the spatial extents of each proposed building had to be carefully considered.

From a Transportation Engineering perspective, we are always looking at how people use the built environment and relate to the spaces around them. Design and function is important for pedestrians, cyclists, people on public transport, and service vehicles.

We also undertook topographical surveying and provided a Water Impact Assessment considering water demands for the site and how best to manage run-off in a sustainable way.
