In recent news, the Natural and Built Environments Act and Spatial Planning Act received royal ascent in August, so they are now officially Acts as opposed to Bills.
Our planning team attended an online session ran by NZPI to learn more about these changes. Daniel Brown, Planning Manager, says the key takeaway was not to panic or get too far ahead of ourselves. The result of the upcoming election may ultimately decide on the direction of RM reform and regardless it will undergo a long transition, meaning that decisions will continue to be made under the RMA for many years to come.
