As 2025 draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year that has tested the land development, planning and infrastructure sectors, and to share a growing sense of optimism for what lies ahead.

Our latest newsletter captures a shift we’re starting to see across the market. Enquiry levels are lifting, projects are moving forward again, and there’s renewed confidence as developers, councils and communities re-engage. While challenges remain, the indicators are encouraging.

This edition also highlights the breadth of work delivered across CKL during the year - from major stormwater and resilience projects, to complex planning and consenting, transport and civil engineering design, and early-stage strategic advice. It’s a strong reflection of the calibre of work being delivered by our teams in Hamilton, Auckland, Tauranga and Gisborne.

In this issue, you’ll find:

  • An update on CKL Hamilton’s move to a new CBD office at 18 London Street
  • Industry-leading stormwater outcomes showcased at an international conference
  • Expert commentary on flood risk and property from CKL Director Bevan Houlbrooke
  • Project features spanning Te Reinga Bridge, Waikato University student accommodation, Kingston Village, and Festival Way in Ngāruawāhia
  • Team highlights, including national recognition at the Property Council NZ People Awards
  • Insights into how CKL is upskilling its leadership team in the practical use of AI
  • Updates on granny flat rule changes and a recap of CKL’s rural land subdivision webinar
