Our Tauranga office recently celebrated its second anniversary, marking a period of steady growth for the office since it opened the doors in November 2019.

Starting out with two senior consultants, Alan Wilkinson as Tauranga Branch Manager and Mark Batchelor as the Tauranga Planning Manager, today our Bay of Plenty team has grown to be nine-strong .

Prior to 2019, CKL had been providing planning, surveying, engineering and environmental services to clients in the Bay of Plenty from our Hamilton, Te Awamutu, and Auckland offices.

With an increase in the number of our clients based in Tauranga and the surrounding districts, and the projected growth of the region, the time was right for us to establish a local office to provide dedicated client support and project management.

The office was set up in the Tauranga CBD at 1/73 Spring Street, where we remain today.

Alan Wilkinson is pleased with how the office has not just operated, but grown during the uncertain times over the last two years.

“Development opportunities in the area (and surrounding regions) have remained strong, with our team busy on the ground both undertaking project work and strengthening local business and government connections,” explains Alan.

“In particular, we have found significant work in the civil and environmental engineering space, which is only set to grow with the upcoming Three Waters Reform. Several of the five-strong engineering team, including Engineering Manager John Sternberg, Senior Engineer Johan Becker and Engineering Draughtsperson Latischa Wooldridge, have substantial experience in this field.

“Planning is another area of growth, with plan changes on intensification and development density going through Council. Mark Batchelor has significant expertise here, and Mark Haseley provides transport planning expertise to both public and private clients.”

As the office has expanded, Alan notes that the team continues to showcase the people-centric, inclusive culture CKL is known for, with staff enjoying the support and encouragement provided, as well as a diverse range of projects to work on.
