Last week, CKL Director Bronwyn Rhynd joined researchers, mana whenua, policymakers, and community leaders at the Alpine Lakes Forum 2025: Deep Lakes, Deeper Knowledge in Wānaka.
Hosted by Kāi Tahu, WAI Wānaka, the University of Otago and ORC, the two-day forum brought together science, mātauraka Māori, and community insight to explore the health and future of Otago’s deep lakes.
Bronwyn presented as part of the Research Update session on Day 1, sharing CKL’s work on nature-based stormwater solutions in the Waihōpaki/Lake Hayes catchment - an outcomes-driven, collaborative approach that supports both ecological resilience and community wellbeing.
Events like this remind us of the strength that comes from bringing science, local knowledge, and engineering practice together. CKL is proud to contribute to conversations shaping the future of Aotearoa’s freshwater ecosystems.
