On 5 November, project partners gathered in Peacocke for a milestone moment; the karakia and burial of the mauri stone for the new Broadwater Retirement Village. Led by representatives of Te Haa o te Whenua o Kirikiriroa, the ceremony honoured the whenua and set the foundations for the development now moving into construction.

Broadwater Retirement Village is one of the first significant projects to advance in the Peacocke growth area, supporting Hamilton’s long-term residential expansion.

Developed by Qestral Corporation, the village will include villas, a care home, a dementia unit, and a lodge, creating a high-quality, connected living environment for older residents.

Stage 1 earthworks will now commence, supported by a collaborative project team including:

  • Te Haa o te Whenua o Kirikiriroa
  • Qestral Corporation
  • Hamilton City Council
  • Waikato Regional Council
  • CKL
  • Kensway Consulting
  • Warren Gumbley
  • Morgan + Pollard
  • Dempsey Wood (contractor)
  • Ecology NZ
  • MAP Architects
CKL has been involved with the planning and development work for Broadwater as part of its wider contribution to the Peacocke growth area, alongside projects such as the Aurora subdivision and land acquisition support for the Southern Links network.

The ceremony was an opportunity for partners to come together, recognise the cultural significance of the moment, and acknowledge the shared commitment behind one of Peacocke’s cornerstone developments.
