DIRECTORS' UPDATE

At CKL we're looking forward to an exciting year ahead, with 2022 now well underway. This month marks the start of the Year of the Tiger, which in Chinese astrology represents strength, vitality and growth. Let's hope those qualities characterise the year to come.
Like many other businesses, the change to red under the traffic light system in January signalled a need to continue to adapt our practices. This ensures we remain 'open for business,' providing our clients with the full range of CKL services whilst not compromising the healthy and safety of our staff, clients and wider stakeholder group.

Our offices remain open, however some staff are working from home and are fully contactable by phone, email and MS Teams. Clients and visitors are welcome by appointment only and fieldwork such as site visits, inspections/testing and surveying for projects continues.

This year also promises new developments in the wider industry and legislative areas in which we operate. The amendments to the Resource Management Act (RMA) that passed into law generated a wide range of reactions, as by removing restrictive planning rules they open up the possibility of more medium-density homes across New Zealand's main city centres.

The various Councils will need to notify publicly the new rules and policies enabling medium density and intensification in their district plans by 20 August 2022. Our team can assist you in being ready to develop as soon as these policies take effect.

We look forward to working with you over the year to come, and thank you for your support of CKL.

Ngā mihi,

GEOFF, BEVAN, BRONWYN, MARK AND CAM.

Community Matters

Sustainable Coastlines

CKL has cemented our ongoing support for Sustainable Coastlines as a bronze sponsor. Sustainable Coastlines is a grassroots New Zealand charity with a vision for restored mauri, or lifeforce, for our moana. They support communities around Aotearoa to prevent litter and restore waterways by organising large-scale clean-up events, educational programmes, public awareness campaigns, catchment-based freshwater restoration and citizen science environmental monitoring.

Their intention is to connect people with nature and inspire change, working towards beautiful beaches, healthy waters, and inspired people.

ECC's CricStars

Sport participation and being active should be available to those of all ages and abilities, which is why we’re thrilled to be supporting the Ellerslie Cricket Club (ECC) CricStars Programme for 2022.

Based on the New Zealand Cricket junior skills programme, CricStars is for children of all ages who live with a disability and focusses on enhancing gross and fine motor skills through participating in cricket-based activities.

Participants also become members of ECC, so kids and their families can enjoy the community atmosphere at the club.

Starting on 13 February, we look forward to sharing more about the programme as it gets underway. Read more >>
