Waihi Gold Mine

CKL was engaged to undertake a large scale leveling survey in the town of Waihi to determine if mining activities were causing subsidence.

Our team was required to start the level survey several kilometres out of town using survey marks outside the mining area that would not be subject to movement.

Survey work was conducted to a very high accuracy using precise digital levels. This allowed us to establish levels on the survey marks to less than 5mm accuracy and not just meet, but exceed the client’s accuracy requirements.

The team monitored the height of approximately 300 survey marks throughout the town over a number of years. Data was processed using a specifically designed spreadsheet and analysed by CKL’s professional surveyors. It was then provided to specialist geotechnical engineers for further analysis.
