Rural Subdivisions


Throughout its long history CKL has assisted many rural landowners through the subdivision process. Our expertise includes boundary relocation between adjacent farms and subdivision of rural and rural residential blocks.

In recent years, many of the regions District Councils have restricted rural subdivisions in order to retain productive farmland. While this has benefits, the restrictions have also made it difficult for farmers to release land and dwellings that may be surplus to their needs.

While many of the District Councils now have minimum lot areas in excess of 20 hectares, there may be exceptions when relocating existing boundaries, subdividing off surplus dwellings, etc.
